On September 12, participants from the Advanced Humanities & Aesthetics Study Program at Sun Yat-sen University visited PITO for an immersive exploration of porcelain, culture, and aesthetics at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Cultural Center.
More than a corporate visit, the experience offered a journey from Chaozhou’s porcelain heritage to the connections between traditional culture, contemporary design, and everyday aesthetics.
For PITO, porcelain has never been simply an object on the table. It carries the cultural character of a place while creating connections between people, food, spaces, and the way we live. The visit offered participants from different fields an opportunity to experience the depth of Chaozhou porcelain heritage firsthand and discover how traditional craftsmanship can find new possibilities in a contemporary context.
Discovering Chaozhou’s Cultural Heritage Through Blue-and-White Porcelain
The first stop was PITO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain Cultural Center.

Here, participants explored the history of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain, traditional ceramic-making techniques, blue-and-white decoration, and the ways intangible cultural heritage is being preserved and reinterpreted today.
Each blue-and-white porcelain piece brings together the distinctive cultural character of Chaozhou, the aesthetics of the East, and generations of ceramic craftsmanship.
When traditional blue-and-white motifs meet contemporary tableware forms, design, and dining environments, porcelain takes on new ways of expressing its heritage.
Rooted in Chaozhou, PITO has long explored the connection between traditional ceramic craftsmanship and contemporary life. From blue-and-white porcelain heritage to modern tableware design, from artisanal techniques to precision manufacturing, and from individual pieces to complete dining experiences in hotels and restaurants, PITO seeks to bring Chaozhou porcelain into the present—to be experienced, used, and discovered by a global audience.

When Traditional Craftsmanship Becomes a Hands-On Experience
Cultural heritage is best understood not only through observation, but also through experience.
Following the visit, participants took part in an intangible cultural heritage porcelain painting workshop. With a white porcelain plate as their canvas and cobalt blue as their medium, each participant created a unique blue-and-white porcelain piece by hand.

From the first idea to the final brushstroke, and from individual lines to complete patterns, traditional craftsmanship became more than something displayed behind glass. It became something to touch, experience, and create.
For the participants, the process offered an intimate encounter with the aesthetics of the East, while providing a deeper appreciation of the patience, precision, and creativity embedded in traditional porcelain craftsmanship.
From Porcelain to the Table: When Aesthetics Meets Everyday Use
As a premium ceramic tableware brand rooted in Chaozhou, PITO looks beyond porcelain itself to consider the value it creates when brought into real life and professional hospitality environments.
In hotels, restaurants, and other premium dining settings, tableware serves both a functional and aesthetic purpose.
It must withstand frequent use while complementing the cuisine, space, and identity of the brand. It must meet the practical demands of hospitality operations—including durability, consistency, and reliable replenishment—while also becoming part of the overall dining experience.
PITO therefore continues to explore the balance between cultural heritage, design innovation, and professional hospitality applications.
From bone china and fine porcelain to blue-and-white cultural elements, PITO explores different combinations of materials, forms, and design languages. Through its design, R&D, and manufacturing capabilities, cultural inspiration is transformed into tableware designed to be used and experienced at the table.

Bringing Cultural Heritage into New Spaces for Exchange
The visit from Sun Yat-sen University’s Advanced Humanities & Aesthetics Study Program was another step in PITO’s ongoing efforts to foster cultural exchange between industry and higher education.
In recent years, PITO has continued to engage with universities through study visits, cultural experiences, and campus creative initiatives, exploring ways to bring ceramic culture into younger, more open, and more diverse settings.

On August 6, 2026, the School of Continuing Education at Sun Yat-sen University held its unveiling ceremony.
As the collaboration between PITO and Sun Yat-sen University continues to deepen, the two sides will explore further possibilities in cultural and creative projects, ceramic art, and contemporary lifestyle aesthetics—creating new connections between traditional craftsmanship and youth culture, education and industry.
For PITO, growth is not only about bringing products to more markets. It is also about enabling more people to understand the cultural values and ideas behind the brand.
Bringing Chaozhou Porcelain Heritage to the World Through Contemporary Design
From Chaozhou, PITO has brought porcelain into hotels, restaurants, and premium dining environments around the world.
Rooted in the rich ceramic heritage of Chaozhou, the brand continues to connect traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, R&D, manufacturing, and international hospitality applications.
From classic blue-and-white porcelain to contemporary tableware design, PITO is exploring more than how to make porcelain. It is exploring how Eastern porcelain heritage can find a contemporary expression on tables around the world.

Today, PITO has established a global business network serving hotels, restaurant groups, professional distributors, and hospitality project clients across multiple markets. Supported by its production and R&D capabilities in Chaozhou, PITO provides international hospitality clients with integrated tableware solutions spanning form design, product development, customization, and delivery.
And culture remains an integral part of that journey.
A piece of porcelain can be a tableware piece, but it can also carry the story of a culture.
A stroke of blue-and-white can originate from an ancient Eastern tradition and find its place on tables around the world today.
From Chaozhou to the world, PITO is committed to preserving traditional craftsmanship while reinterpreting and redesigning it for the present—creating new expressions of beauty for contemporary life.
