Event Overview
PITO recently welcomed a delegation of faculty and students from Ateneo de Manila University, one of the Philippines’ leading universities, to its Greater Bay Area headquarters for an international cultural exchange focused on Chinese ceramics, intangible cultural heritage, and hospitality tableware innovation.
The program was jointly organized by the EDP Alumni Association of the School of Continuing Education at Sun Yat-sen University. The venue—the Haizhu Alumni House of the EDP Alumni Association, located within PITO’s Greater Bay Area headquarters—served as an integrated platform connecting academia, alumni networks, and industrial practice.
The visit reflects PITO’s continued commitment to cultural exchange, ceramic heritage preservation, and innovation in luxury hospitality tableware manufacturing.

A Shared Platform Connecting Academia and Industry
As the core venue of the program, the Haizhu Alumni House at Sun Yat-sen University was established within PITO’s Greater Bay Area headquarters, creating a unique hybrid space for academic dialogue and industrial engagement.
Guests were welcomed by Ms. Lin Xiaoqin, Assistant to the General Manager of PITO, who guided the delegation through the company’s cultural and manufacturing environment.
The visit began with an introduction to Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain, offering participants a deeper understanding of the historical evolution and cultural significance of Chinese ceramics.
Through immersive interpretation, guests gained insights into how Oriental aesthetics and Chinese porcelain heritage continue to influence modern luxury hospitality design.

Intangible Heritage: Reinterpreting Blue-and-White Porcelain
A key highlight of the visit was the exploration of Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain, a recognized form of Chinese intangible cultural heritage.

From symbolic patterns to hand-painting techniques, traditional craftsmanship was presented as a living cultural language that continues to evolve within contemporary design contexts.
PITO integrates this heritage into modern luxury hotel tableware design, demonstrating how traditional craftsmanship can be reinterpreted for global hospitality applications while maintaining its cultural authenticity.
Cultural Gift Exchange: The “Fudun Horse” Artwork
During the exchange, Mr. Xu Hongsheng, General Manager of PITO, presented a specially designed ceramic artwork titled “Fudun Horse” to representatives of the visiting delegation.

The artwork carries three symbolic meanings:
- “Fu” represents blessings and good fortune
- “Dun” symbolizes stability and strong relationships
- “Horse” represents vitality, progress, and success
This customized ceramic piece reflects PITO’s expertise in high-end porcelain customization and artistic design, while also serving as a cultural bridge connecting China and international partners.
Through this ceremonial exchange, PITO further reinforced its dual role as both a ceramic manufacturer and a cultural ambassador.

Hands-On Experience: Blue-and-White Porcelain Painting Workshop
Following the cultural presentation, participants joined a guided blue-and-white porcelain hand-painting workshop led by PITO artisans.

Guests experienced the full creative process, including color mixing, brush outlining, and traditional pattern application.
This hands-on session transformed cultural understanding into practical experience, allowing participants to directly engage with hand-painted porcelain craftsmanship and appreciate the precision of Chinese ceramic art.

Creative Outcomes: Cultural Expression Through Making
At the conclusion of the workshop, each participant completed a unique hand-painted ceramic artwork reflecting personal interpretation and cultural exchange.

These creations, together with the “Fudun Horse” artwork presented by PITO, became tangible symbols of friendship and collaboration among all parties.
The program successfully established a multidimensional platform connecting universities, enterprises, and international students, promoting deeper collaboration in education, culture, and creative industries.

PITO also highlighted that its ceramic workshop is open to public reservations.
Visitors can experience the full ceramic-making journey, including:
