On April 10, 2025, Liu Haichun, the Party Committee Deputy Secretary and President of Hanshan Normal University, led a team including Lin Jiasheng, the Party General Branch Secretary of the Chaoshan Cuisine College, Chen Jing, the Dean of the Chaoshan Cuisine College, and Xie Gui Xiang, the Deputy Director of the Student Employment Guidance Center, to visit Guangdong PITO Technology Co., Ltd. for a research visit. They inspected the progress of the “Nice Tableware and Delicious Food Research Institute” project and held in-depth discussions on the deep integration of ceramic craftsmanship and Chaoshan culinary culture, as well as multi-dimensional industry-academia-research cooperation, injecting “Hanshan Normal University wisdom” into the innovation of traditional industries.
The research institute relies on the “dual advantages” of Hanshan Normal University’s art and design and Chaoshan cuisine disciplines, and collaborates with PITO Technology to develop products that integrate Chaoshan ceramic craftsmanship and culinary culture. It has launched a number of customized ceramic tableware that are both aesthetically valuable and functional, promoting the joint development of the “Chaoshan Porcelain” and “Chaoshan Cuisine” dual IPs.
Dean Chen Jing of the Chaoshan Cuisine College reached a consensus with the general manager of PITO Technology: to promote industry-academia-research integration with the concept of “one tableware for one dish,” and to develop specialized tableware that matches Chaoshan famous dishes through design and research and development, enhancing the experience of culinary culture. The two sides plan to jointly develop a series of ceramic products themed on “Chaoshan Banquet,” building an innovative model from table aesthetics to cultural tourism promotion. Chaoshan cuisine emphasizes “color, aroma, taste, shape, and vessel,” and the cooperation with PITO will redefine the cultural connotation of “tableware.” In the future, the Chaoshan Cuisine College will work with the research institute to comprehensively enhance the international dissemination of Chaoshan cuisine, from tableware design, dish plating to cultural storytelling.
At the symposium, President Liu Haichun proposed to integrate multidisciplinary resources such as art and design, materials engineering, and food science, and to use PITO Technology’s intelligent manufacturing technology to explore directions such as ceramic 3D printing and the digital protection of intangible cultural heritage, creating a benchmark for the modern transformation of traditional skills in university-enterprise cooperation.
It is planned to establish an interdisciplinary practice base at PITO Technology to integrate the teaching scenarios of “ceramic design – production – catering application.” Jointly apply for a provincial project on “Chaoshan Culture IP Innovation,” focusing on cutting-edge fields such as ceramic antibacterial technology and intelligent temperature control tableware. Develop a “Nice Tableware and Delicious Food Culture Experience Center” and launch integrated cultural tourism products such as ceramic handicrafts and Chaoshan cuisine tasting. The first batch of university-enterprise joint products are expected to be launched within the year, and the “Chaoshan Culture Tableware Design Competition” will be launched simultaneously, soliciting creative solutions from Hanshan Normal University teachers and students to accelerate the implementation of innovative results.
The in-depth exchanges at this university-enterprise cooperation meeting mark a solid step for both sides in talent training, innovation platform of production area park, and social services. In the future, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation, explore more diversified cooperation models, and jointly train more high-quality and highly educated technical and skilled talents to meet social needs and contribute to the high-quality development of local economic and social affairs.
