PITO recently welcomed a group of exchange students from Paris East University for an immersive cultural exchange centered on Chaozhou blue-and-white porcelain, one of China’s intangible cultural heritage crafts.
The visit combined heritage exploration, hand-painted ceramic practice, and modern hospitality tableware aesthetics, offering international students a direct experience of Chinese ceramic culture beyond observation — through creation, interaction, and hands-on craftsmanship.
As a ceramic manufacturer rooted in Chaozhou, China’s “Porcelain Capital,” PITO continues to bridge traditional craftsmanship with global hospitality design and luxury tableware solutions.

Exploring the Legacy of Chaozhou Blue-and-White Porcelain
The program began at the Chaozhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Blue-and-White Porcelain Museum, where students explored centuries of ceramic development spanning the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties.

Through historical porcelain collections, students gained a deeper understanding of the evolution of Chinese ceramic artistry — from functional craftsmanship to refined aesthetic expression.
For PITO, this heritage is not static history. It is a foundation for innovation in modern hospitality tableware, luxury dining experiences, and custom porcelain design for global markets.
Live Demonstration: The Art of Hand-Painted Blue and White Porcelain
The experience continued with a live hand-painting workshop led by Professor Xiong and Professor Luo from Guangdong University of Finance Art College.
Using premium porcelain panels, the professors demonstrated the essential techniques of blue-and-white porcelain painting, highlighting the importance of brush control, pigment-water balance, and expressive line rhythm.

Students then created their own works under guided instruction, applying traditional techniques to individual creative expression.
This hands-on process reflects PITO’s philosophy of combining craftsmanship heritage with modern Custom Design capabilities — a key value in today’s luxury hospitality and fine dining tableware industry.

Cultural Fusion: Eastern Ceramics Meet Western Cuisine
To deepen the cultural dialogue, a curated dining experience was introduced featuring traditional Italian Neapolitan pizza, recognized as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

The pizza is served on PITO’s premium bone china plate. This highlight how professional hospitality tableware design enhances food presentation, emotional dining experience, and brand storytelling in the global restaurant and hotel industry.

From Participants to Creators: A Personal Cultural Output
At the conclusion of the workshop, each student presented their completed blue-and-white porcelain artwork. Although varied in technique and precision, each piece reflected a personal interpretation of Chinese ceramic art and cultural experience. These hand-painted works became meaningful cultural artifacts — transforming visitors from observers into active participants in heritage creation.

PITO believes that cultural heritage is best communicated through participation and creation, where global audiences engage directly with craftsmanship rather than simply observing it.
The PITO Workshop remains open year-round, offering ceramic experiences including wheel throwing, hand-painting, and blue-and-white porcelain creation for individuals, educational groups, and cultural organizations.
