Las mareas de primavera traen lluvia y humedad al encanto de la porcelana, Porcelana azul y blanca pinta sueños en los océanos! El 30 de marzo, a unique cultural event titled “Spring Melody of Blue and White Porcelain: Pazhou Porcelain Painting” was held at the foot of the Canton Tower.
Cultural Ambassadors from the Consulate General of the Philippines in Guangzhou, French artists, university professors, and representatives of international friends gathered by the Pearl River, using blue and white porcelain as a bond to jointly create a magnificent picture of cultural integration.

Porcelain Charm Through Millennia: The Beauty of Intangible Cultural Heritage
At the beginning of the event, a promotional video of Chaozhou blue and white porcelain took the audience on a journey through time, showcasing the Eastern wisdom of “one firing to create white glaze and blue and white porcelain.” As a cultural envoy of the Maritime Silk Road, Chaozhou blue and white porcelain, with its elegant and concise brushwork, has etched ink wash paintings onto plain bisque, becoming a shining pearl of national intangible cultural heritage.

Ceramic Dialogue: Mutual Learning of Civilizations
In the “Ceramic Dialogue” session, several Chinese and foreign guests shared their unique insights into blue and white porcelain culture and the charm of Guangzhou city:

Hon. Iric Cruz Arribas, Consul General of the Philippines in Guangzhou: “First of all, I would like to thank Mr. Xu for the invitation. Previously, I had participated in several exchanges on Chinese and Filipino food and culture with PITO, where we experienced and learned about the charm of each other’s countries. Since childhood, my home has had many porcelain art pieces collected by my mother, mostly blue and white porcelain. In this event, I am particularly interested in the painting collections of intangible cultural heritage of blue and white porcelain. Por supuesto, other Lingnan cultural-related creative collections also look extremely interesting. I am very happy to attend this event and look forward to more in-depth Sino-Filipino cultural exchanges to promote the development of Sino-Filipino friendship. I wish this event a complete success.”

Aprilfleur Galima-Mejia, Consul of the Philippines in Guangzhou: “The gentle and delicate nature of blue and white porcelain and the inclusiveness of Lingnan culture are fascinating. While touring the event area, Lingnan embroidery and the mascots of Haizhu Wetland caught my attention. I also look forward to more exchanges in the future and wish the event success.”

Jean Michel Stanislas Garczynski, French Expressionist Artist: “The art of leaving blank spaces in Eastern ceramics is surprisingly similar to Western expressionism!”

Zhang Jinxia, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of Haizhu District and Director of Haizhu District News Publishing Bureau (Copyright Bureau): “We warmly welcome all guests to the Pazhou Creative Carnival. Many of the products at the carnival are being released or displayed offline for the first time. We hope to inspire the public’s love and pursuit of creativity through diverse and rich activities, injecting new vitality into the prosperity of Guangzhou’s culture and becoming a new driving force for the economic growth of Haizhu’s creative industry.”

Xu Hongsheng, Chairman of Guangdong PITO Porcelain: “Thank you all for coming. The weather is perfect. PITO is honored to bring Chaozhou blue and white porcelain intangible cultural heritage creative products to this event. We hope everyone can enjoy a variety of exquisite Lingnan creative gifts and learn more about the charm of Chinese culture. Intangible cultural heritage needs innovative expression to let the world see the contemporary value of Chaozhou blue and white porcelain.”

Xiong Qingzhen, Professor of Art and Design at Guangdong University of Finance and Economics: “I have always been committed to the research, teaching, and dissemination of blue and white porcelain culture. By sharing the mysterious ‘blue’ of the sky, from dark to light, I explain what blue and white porcelain is and its charm. I didn’t expect that everyone would love blue and white porcelain so much. I sincerely express my gratitude and pride. Hope everyone enjoys the event and discovers more of the charm of Chinese creative culture together.”

World Impressions: Flowers on Porcelain
The Philippine consul hand-painted the national flower jasmine, the French artist added a touch of romance from the banks of the Seine, and the Guangdong University professor depicted the city center landmark, the Canton Tower…

When the blue and white pigment outlined the contours of Guangzhou’s city landmarks, and the lines of the Canton Tower shone together with foreign patterns, this creation had transcended art itself. The porcelain tile paintings jointly created by everyone will be fired into commemorative porcelain plates, becoming an eternal treasure of the event.

At the end of the event, Deputy Director Zhang Jinxia led the guests to the creative exhibition area to admire the modern design of Lingnan culture – from tea sets to jewelry, traditional skills are moving towards the world with a youthful demeanor.

This event was not only a display of intangible cultural heritage but also a cross-border artistic dialogue. En el futuro, Chaozhou blue and white porcelain will continue to act as a cultural envoy, connecting the world and letting the beauty of the East shine globally.
