El 7 de noviembre, Señor. Olivier Ngo, Cónsul de Ciencias y Educación Superior en el Consulado General de Francia en Guangzhou, acompañado por el señor. Zhengpeng, Officer for Higher Education Cooperation, visited the PITO (Pai Tao) Exquisite Tableware Delicious Food Cultural Creative Experience Center for an exchange. This visit not only marked the continuation of the deep cultural ties between PITO and the French Consulate General in Guangzhou but also served as the beginning of collaboration for the 2024 “China-France Cultural Spring.” Going forward, PITO aims to use ceramics and gastronomy as bridges to create a new chapter in China-France cultural exchange.
01 A Meeting of French Elegance and Eastern Ceramics
As the French representative for education and cultural affairs, Consul Olivier Ngo has always been committed to fostering cooperation between France and China in the fields of higher education, science, and culture. During his visit to the PITO workshop, Señor. Ngo took a deep dive into PITO’s handcrafted techniques, including pottery making, hand-painted blue-and-white porcelain, and glass lamp-working. He expressed his admiration for PITO’s ceramic pieces, particularly the interest in Chaozhou’s intangible cultural heritage of blue-and-white porcelain. As a classic symbol of Chaozhou culture, this unique porcelain embodies the distinct charm of Eastern aesthetics and serves as a testament to the deep cultural exchange between China and France.
02 Cultural Spring: A China-France Gastronomy and Ceramics Rendezvous
As part of the “Cultural Spring” exchange program, the French Consulate General in Guangzhou will invite PITO to join in this grand cultural event. PITO will showcase its exquisite ceramics and fine cuisine, leading French guests to experience the intricate craftsmanship and profound history of Chinese ceramic culture. This event represents not just a cultural exchange but a fusion of artistry. PITO hopes to use the unique development of ceramics and gastronomy as a platform to demonstrate the excellence of Chinese ceramic craftsmanship to international audiences.
03 Gastronomy Capitals: From Bocuse to Macron’s Connection with France
France is globally renowned for its refined culinary culture, and French cuisine has long been integrated into people’s hearts. As an official partner of the Bocuse d’Or culinary competition, PITO has witnessed firsthand the elegance and uniqueness of French gastronomy. Even more proudly, President Emmanuel Macron used PITO’s “Auspicious Flower City” afternoon tea set during a boat tour on the Pearl River, presenting the beauty of Chinese ceramics to the world. The aesthetics of ceramics used in Michelin-starred French restaurants have also inspired PITO, and in the future, we will continue to explore the harmony between “ceramics and taste” to promote the blending and innovation of Chinese and French culinary and ceramic cultures.
04 China-France Collaboration: Building a Future for Fine Ceramics
“China-France Environmental Month” event, PITO showcased its environmental innovation achievements. PITO Chairman Mr. Xu Hongsheng presented Mr. Olivier Ngo, Cónsul de Ciencias y Educación Superior en el Consulado General de Francia en Guangzhou, with a specially designed commemorative cup from the Bocuse d’Or competition. This gift symbolizes the deep connection between China and France in both culture and fine ceramics.
