PITO and the Philippine Consulate: A Cultural Connection

This is not the first collaboration between PITO and the Philippine Consulate General. As early as 2024, the two sides had already deepened their cooperation through a series of cultural and culinary events:

Señor. Xu Hongsheng, Chairman of PITO, was invited to speak at the “Cities of Flavor” culinary forum, where he introduced Chaozhou cuisine, ceramics, and culture to the Philippine political and business communities. His presentation received high praise from the Iloilo provincial government.

At the Yuechutong Chef Academy Training Center, Chinese and Filipino chefs shared the stage under the theme “Let’s Have FUN Cooking!” The three chefs exchanged insights on their cooking techniques and engaged in an in-depth discussion on the similarities and differences between the two countries’ food cultures. They explored how to better integrate culinary traditions and promote international gastronomic exchange.

The event brought together top chefs from both the Philippines and China for a live demonstration of traditional roast pig preparation. Chefs shared their culinary philosophies and innovative ideas, fostering a spirit of mutual learning. Many participants expressed that the event not only deepened their understanding of each other’s food cultures but also helped them forge meaningful connections with like-minded peers.

A collaborative effort between Guangzhou Radio and Television University Haizhu Branch and Guangdong Culinary Technical Services Co., Limitado., the Yuechutong Chef Academy is a flagship model of school-enterprise cooperation in culinary education. Located within the Hongde Campus of Haizhu RTVU, just 50 meters from Exit C of Tongfuxi Station (Metro Line 8), it boasts exceptional accessibility.

The center covers nearly 1,000㎡ of practical space and includes a Chinese cuisine kitchen, pastry training room, beverage room, multipurpose classroom, theory classroom, teacher’s lounge, and admissions office. Equipped with professional stoves, hornos, grills, and multimedia teaching tools, the facility fully supports both theoretical and hands-on culinary instruction.
